U.S.-listed spot cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds recorded another session of net withdrawals on Thursday, October 8, 2026, as investors continued reducing exposure to Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana products.

Bitcoin ETFs suffered $244.1 million in net outflows, according to Farside Investors, following a substantially larger $484.9 million withdrawal on October 7. Ethereum ETFs also remained under pressure, although reporting for some funds was still incomplete on October 9. The latest available data showed approximately $1.4 million in net redemptions among reporting funds, excluding pending figures from BlackRock’s ETHA and ETHB.

Solana ETFs recorded a further $3.5 million in net withdrawals, extending their negative streak. Across the three categories, the reported net outflow stood at approximately $249 million, before the missing Ethereum figures are incorporated.

An earlier Farside snapshot had shown Ethereum withdrawals of $72.5 million, including $71.1 million from BlackRock’s ETHA, indicating that the published figures were being revised during the reporting period.

Fidelity Drives Bitcoin ETF Redemptions

Fidelity’s Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund, FBTC, accounted for the largest Bitcoin ETF withdrawal on October 8, losing $197.1 million.

That represented approximately 81% of the category’s net outflow. Bitwise’s BITB followed with $17.7 million in withdrawals, while ARK Invest and 21Shares’ ARKB lost $20.3 million. Grayscale’s GBTC recorded another $8.2 million outflow.

BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust, IBIT, experienced a comparatively modest $5.5 million withdrawal after losing $207.7 million the previous session. Franklin Templeton’s EZBC was the only Bitcoin fund reporting meaningful positive flows, attracting $4.7 million.

The remaining Bitcoin products recorded no net movement. The October 8 figures marked a second consecutive session of substantial Bitcoin ETF withdrawals. Combined with October 7, the products lost $729 million over two trading days, reversing the $118.8 million inflow recorded on October 6.

The selling coincided with pressure across cryptocurrency markets as rising U.S. Treasury yields, a stronger dollar and geopolitical uncertainty weighed on risk-sensitive assets.

Ethereum Reporting Remains Incomplete as Solana Outflows Continue

Ethereum’s October 8 data requires particular caution because Farside’s published table changed between reporting snapshots.

The latest available version showed Fidelity’s FETH attracting $5.5 million, while Grayscale’s ETHE lost $6.1 million.

The 21Shares TETH fund recorded $1.2 million in withdrawals, and VanEck’s ETHV lost $900,000. Morgan Stanley’s MSSE attracted $1.3 million. BlackRock’s ETHA and ETHB were marked as unreported, preventing a reliable final category total.

The previous session had produced $160.9 million in Ethereum ETF redemptions, led by $116.1 million leaving BlackRock’s ETHA.

Solana funds presented a clearer picture. Bitwise’s BSOL recorded $5.3 million in outflows, partially offset by a $1.8 million inflow into Morgan Stanley’s MSOL. Other Solana funds reported no net movement, leaving the category with $3.5 million in withdrawals.

That followed outflows of $4.8 million on October 7 and $3.7 million on October 6. The continued withdrawals highlight weaker demand for regulated cryptocurrency investment products during a period of macroeconomic uncertainty.

However, ETF redemptions represent changes in fund holdings rather than direct evidence of investors abandoning cryptocurrency altogether. The key development on October 8 was the concentration of Bitcoin withdrawals in Fidelity’s fund, alongside persistent selling in Solana products.
